This is my current staff photo, I'm sitting in the sysops GEM car. Thanks to our AA for the Hello Kitty gear! This ride is fully pimped.

Those cars are similar to golf buggies, but they are legal on the roads (if the road is posted at < 56km/h). They have a speed limiter that kicks in at 40km/h.
I think Hamilton island encourages people to drive electric buggies around their roads, so it isn't unheard of in Australia.
